Weather here in the Heartland is very unpredictable. I can still imagine how "very" cold it was last winter to the point that we had to stay a lot of days at the hotel just so hubby can make it to work. Last winter was the first winter that I experienced terrible snow... just as this summer I think is the hottest since my arrival here.
Tornados and severe floods this year damaged a lot in the midwest. Though a lot of counties in our state was affected, we're lucky that our area wasn't flooded, only occassional flooding in the basement and at the veggies garden. All the veggies I planted this year didn't grow, i.e. okra & cucumber, but me and hubby replanted some. I'm still lucky though that most of my oriental veggies are now doing good. This is the first year that I planted chinese okra (patola) and asparagus beans (sitaw)... as usual, I have japanese eggplants, tomatoes, peppers, and green beans. The spineless okra and cucumber we replanted last month are now growing as well. I'm sure I won't have as much harvest as last year but glad that I'll still have some. I can't see myself canning this year as well.
On the stitching side, I'm still of course busy doing my smalls. I recently got a contract from a cross stitch magazine abroad for my needlework smalls and finishings. And finally, my first design was published last month at an Australian cross stitch magazine, not to mention I've been doing model finishing for the said magazine since 3rd quarter of last year.
I won't be able to share photos of my works yet but will do in the near future. I still collect antique and vintage needlework books, or anything related to historical needleworks. I recieved today a couple that I purchased online. I've been busy reading them since after lunch and can't get enough of them.
